GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lansing Ignite FC fought until the final whistle but eventually fell 2-1 to Greenville Triumph SC in front of a packed house of 4,014 at Legacy Early College in Greenville, South Carolina, on Saturday evening.
Ricky Lopez-Espin scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute of play, and the team went into the locker room at halftime with a 1-0 advantage. Spurred on by the crowd on hand, Greenville mounted a comeback.
Jake Keegan scored the first for the home side in the 53rd minute, and Kevin Politz scored the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute.
With the result, LIFC moves to 1-1-0 on the season, and will head home to prepare for its first match at Cooley Law School Stadium on April 13.
