Lansing Ignite takes on Davenport University in Brighton on Friday

LANSING, Mich. – Looking to build on a successful week of training following two road preseason matches, Lansing Ignite FC will kick off against Davenport University's men's soccer program at 1 p.m. ET from the Legacy Center in Brighton, Michigan, on Friday. The match is free to attend.

Numerous trialists are competing for spots on the team, as Head Coach Nate Miller continues to evaluate the players ahead of the inaugural USL League One regular season. LIFC will reveal additional roster signings for the 2019 campaign in the coming weeks.

The League One regular season will begin for LIFC in Richmond, Virginia, as the team faces off against the Richmond Kickers on March 30. The team will then travel to Greenville, South Carolina, to play Greenville Triumph SC on April 6 before returning home. LIFC will hold a celebration in downtown Lansing ahead of the team’s first League One match at Cooley Law School Stadium against the Kickers on April 13, and the celebration of soccer in the Michigan capital will continue three days later when LIFC faces off against the Michigan State Spartans in the Capital Cup, presented by Sparrow.

No live stream will be made available. Follow @lansingignite on Twitter for limited in-game updates, and subscribe to LIFC's YouTube channel for post-match highlights and interviews.

"Every weekend, we hope to get better and better with what we're trying to do, so the opponents are always different, and the challenge is always different," LIFC Head Coach Nate Miller said. "Being indoors with no elements will be different, but we should see a lot more of our game that will come out."

Davenport University's men's soccer program has recorded an impressive 102-37-10 record since Head Coach Chris Hughes took over the team in 2012. Hughes has helped guide the program to multiple titles since taking over, including the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championship in 2014.

  • Friday's meeting will be the first between both sides.

  • LIFC is 1-1-0 this preseason, topping Indy Eleven 2-1 on Feb. 27 before falling to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC 2-0 on March 3.
